Getting to Know Me

Hi! My name is Dakota Onken-Baker (legally it is only Baker, but I will always be an Onken)! I am almost 27 years old, I am the oldest of the four states (if you know, you know).

I have a Bachelors degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology and a minor in Social and Behavioral Sciences. I have yet to really use my degree.

I have worked with my parents family business as the office manager for almost five years now. I like to call myself the "Chaos Coordinator!"

My husband, Dalton, and I have been married for five years now (man lots of 5's up in here)! We have grown together a lot over that time. Last year (2024) I gave birth to our first child, we stuck with "D" names, so our little guy's name is Daxton. He is the light of my life and I thank The Lord every day for blessing me with him after five years of infertility. I am hoping to take a deep dive into religion and figure out where I belong in the biblical sense, it is definitely a rough road to travel, but I know I am not alone.

In the midst of all of the craziness the last few years, I have been slowly trying to step up more to help get things rolling with Self Reliant Mindset again. We have had a garden the last couple years, canning and preserving our produce, raising livestock, butchering and processing our own meat, and so much more. I hope to regularly post content (even if it is from several years ago) so we can all learn and grow together.
